The Chinook Port Alliance is proud to present the 2025 Columbia River Salmon Derby, taking place Friday, August 22, and Saturday, August 23, at the Chinook Events Center (810 Hwy 101, Chinook, WA). The event kicks off Friday evening from 5 to 8 PM with a Registration Kick-Off Party featuring food, live music, and local beer, wine, and cocktails. Anglers can check in for the derby and pick up swag bags—available to the first 100 registrants. Registration closes at 11:59 PM that night. Be sure to keep your receipt for access to Friday night festivities and Saturday’s weigh-in. The derby officially begins at dawn on Saturday, August 23. Participants will compete for top prizes including $1,000 for the largest Chinook Salmon by weight, $500 for the largest Silver Salmon, and a Youth Prize for the biggest catch in the youth division. Three mystery weight prizes will also be awarded, giving everyone a chance to win. The official weigh-in will be held at the Chinook Events Center from 4 to 7 PM. In addition to the fishing competition, Saturday will feature a silent auction, raffle prizes, and a 50/50 raffle ($5 per ticket, with only 1,000 available). Live music will be featured both nights, along with local food, drinks, and entertainment for all. It’s a weekend of fishing, fun, and community celebration you won’t want to miss! This year’s swag bag contains some great gifts, including a mystery amount gift card valued at $5 to $100 from Englund Marine. Get there early, as there are limited quantities and present your receipt from registration. Great live music, food and drinks on Friday at the Chinook Events Center from 5- 8 PM. Everyone is welcome to both nights of parties, even if you’re not fishing. We can’t wait to see everyone, old friends and new, at this important community event to benefit the Port of Chinook.
