Plan Your Visit to Long Beach
Long Beach sits at the heart of the peninsula on Washington’s Evergreen Coast, about a 2.5-hour drive from Portland, Oregon and roughly three hours from Seattle. Its wide, hard-packed sand beach stretches for miles, making it a favorite for kite flying, beachcombing, razor clamming, and long walks or bike rides along the paved Discovery Trail. The town itself is walkable and welcoming, with locally owned shops, fresh-seafood restaurants, and family attractions just steps from the sand.
Just south of town, Cape Disappointment State Park offers some of the most dramatic scenery on the coast, including the North Head Lighthouse, the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center, and sheltered coves and forest trails that draw hikers and photographers year-round. A Discover Pass is required to park, and the viewpoints are a short drive from downtown.
Getting Here
Most visitors arrive by car via U.S. Highway 101 and State Route 103, which runs the length of the peninsula. Whether you come for a summer kite festival, a fall clamming trip, or a quiet winter storm-watching weekend, the town makes an easy and memorable base for exploring the Evergreen Coast.
