More Information:
In this one-day workshop, students will create unique ceramic cups by pressing local plants and flowers into clay slabs to capture their delicate textures and patterns. Once the impressions are made, the slabs will be cut, shaped, and assembled into functional mug forms, preserving a botanical snapshot within the surface of the clay.
The class will explore techniques for translating natural forms into ceramic design while focusing on clean construction and thoughtful composition. Participants are encouraged to bring their own plant samples, flowers, and thin-stemmed foliage to make their pieces uniquely tied to their gardens, neighborhoods, or favorite landscapes.
The second half of class will be dedicated to underglaze application, allowing students to enhance the impressions with color and surface design.
Students will leave class with their cups ready for drying and firing; finished pieces will be available for pickup approximately 3–4 weeks later.
