In this one-day workshop, students will create a functional ceramic citrus juicer using a combination of slab-building, coil construction, and carving techniques. The class will introduce a modular approach to construction, breaking the form into simple components that come together to create an efficient and visually engaging kitchen tool. Participants will learn how to build a juicing surface, collection area, and hanging features while exploring ways to personalize the form through texture, carving, and decorative details. Designed to be both practical and attractive, these juicers can be hung on the wall when not in use, doubling as functional kitchen décor. The second half of class will be dedicated to underglaze application, allowing students to add color and surface design that complements their finished pieces. Students will leave class with their juicers ready for drying and firing; finished pieces will be available for pickup approximately 3–4 weeks later.
