More Information:
In this one-day workshop, students will create a ceramic face mask using a sculptural armature as a foundation. The class will explore facial structure, proportion, and expression while providing plenty of room for creative interpretation. Participants may choose to create a realistic likeness, stylized features, or a completely imaginative character.
The workshop will cover techniques for shaping facial features, building dimension, and refining details to create a compelling finished piece. Masks can be designed to be worn or displayed as wall-mounted artwork, making them both sculptural and functional objects.
Time will also be dedicated to underglaze application, allowing students to add color, pattern, and personality to their creations.
Students will leave class with their masks ready for drying and firing; finished pieces will be available for pickup approximately 3–4 weeks later.
