After a fullfilling first year of releasing songs and a new EP, the band, Gretta Seabird has settled into its own vibrant, eccentric, heart-forward identity. What began as a long-distance creative spark has evolved into a band with a clear voice rooted in singer, Lee McDonnell’s instinctive, no-filter songwriting and Jeremiah Brunnhoelzl’s playful, textural guitar work. Their debut EP Cycling (Sept. 2025) marked that first transformation: a warm, harmony-rich collection of songs shaped by McDonnell’s return to singing after a difficult hiatus, and by the duo’s shared love of capturing fleeting human moments before they disappear. Recorded quickly and intentionally, the EP carries the feeling of a band trusting their instincts, leaning into spontaneity, and finding meaning in the smallest emotional details. Now, heading into 2025, Gretta Seabird is deep into creating their next wave of music being heartfelt, lyrically dense, a little wacky, and leaning boldly into stadium-sized dance rock, complete with gulls, ocean textures, and all the windswept elements that honor the Seabird legacy. At the same time, McDonnell has launched her own DIY label, VLVT HEART RECORDS, expanding rather than scaling back her artistic world. With fresh momentum and a sharpened sense of identity, Gretta Seabird moves into 2026 with a fuller sound, a bigger vision, and an ever-present commitment to making music that feels immediate, alive, and unmistakably their own.
