Raku Creatures Clay Play (sculpting) + Raku Fire 6/21
In this workshop, students will build whimsical ceramic creatures designed specifically to respond beautifully to raku glazes and firing techniques. Using coil and sculptural handbuilding methods, participants will create expressive forms with plenty of surface area to showcase the dramatic crackle, metallic flashes, and smoky effects characteristic of raku. The focus will be on strong construction, playful character, and intentional surfaces that enhance the unpredictability and energy of the raku process. Students will leave class with their pieces ready for drying and preparation for the upcoming raku firing.
