More Information:
In this one-day workshop, students will use leather-hard slab construction techniques to create a planter designed specifically for a windowsill. The class will focus on shaping and assembling clean, functional forms while considering the practical needs of both plants and the spaces they inhabit.
Participants will explore ways to personalize their planters through proportion, surface treatment, and subtle form manipulation, creating pieces that are both useful and visually engaging. The project is well suited for herbs, succulents, and other small plants, bringing a touch of handmade character to any windowsill.
The second half of class will be dedicated to underglaze application, giving students the opportunity to add color, pattern, and surface design to complement their forms and make each planter uniquely their own.
Students will leave class with their planters ready for drying and firing; finished pieces will be available for pickup approximately 3–4 weeks later.
